Planetshakers started after our Senior Pastor Russell Evans heard from God to start a conference.
At the time, he was the Youth Pastor for a Church in Adelaide, Australia and took a first fruits offering from the youth he led, asking them to give a weeks wage to start a conference.
They did just that, giving a whole weeks wage and setting Planetshakers on the path to impact and empower generations.
During this time, God instructed Pastor Russell to teach a generation how to give, not how to pay.
This year at Awakening, the Holy Spirit spoke once again to Pastor Russell, reminding him of that instruction.
So, in a bold step of faith, Pastor Russell stood on the stage at Hisense Arena this week and declared that registrations for Awakening 2016 would cost $20 for the whole week.
That is a price reduction of over $100 from previous years.
Where will the money come from to put on such a huge event if we are only charging 1/6th of the price we need to cover costs?
That is for God to provide, for all he asks from us is our obedience to His word.
And I for one am so thankful to be under leadership which trusts His word above all earthy reasoning and steps out in faith when called.
